Today I planted about 25 'Kentucky Blue' Pole Beans in a 30 gallon Rubbermaid self watering container. Again I used a mix of bark fines, sphagnum peat, and perlite in a ratio of about 5:2.5:1. I seeded directly into the container. Soil temps in the greenhouse have been about 65-70F and up to 85F with more direct sunlight. I will need to build a trellis for these when they start growing. A friend uses 6" wire fencing that he hangs from the rafters. It should be much simpler to just hang than to try to support posts in a container.
