Napa Floor Dry (#8822) vs CarQuest Premium Automotive Oil Absorbant (#8033)

Not exactly scientific. Just a photo and a soak test.
Both are calcined diatomaceous earth.
Both packages list less than 1% Crystalline Silica.
Napa lists less than 1% quartz.

Finally Sourced Partially Composted Bark Fines!

Earlier this week I got a phone call from a friend who has been working on getting his dad's garden area set up. They got about 2 yards of what looked like pretty decent topsoil.

Container Soils - Low Grade Perlite

Living in a small rural area makes it especially hard to find just what I want. I finally picked up a large (3 cu/ft) bag of perlite at a garden / farm supply about 20 minutes south of me. It was labeled "Horticulture Grade".

Container Soils - Bark Fines

I've had a tough time finding the ingredients I want to mix my own potting mix. I found some redwood bark at a good price that looks like it will work good, with one problem.
