Building greenhouse benches out of old redwood

When I first started the greenhouse I did not want to spend a lot of money on getting everything 'just right', so I've had to use what I can find around the house. We've had an old redwood picnic table and bench set sitting in the yard that my brother-in-law let me have. It's been around a while and is just sitting out there in the yard.

I've been using the benches to keep things like radishes and lettuce up off the ground where it's easy to reach. There are two things about them that I don't like (besides the fact that they are picnic table benches made for sitting, not growing things on...)

First, they are to narrow. I think they are only 16 inches wide at the most. Second, the large flat surface holds too much water for too long, making it a good place for slugs to hang out.

So I chopped up the old picnic table bench and made a greenhouse bench that has better drainage and more air movement to keep the bugs away. It's 28 inches wide, the photo makes it look smaller than it is I think.
