Greenhouse and Container Gardening Update.

It's almost been a full month since my last update. There have been some changes in the greenhouse since last month. The snow peas are gone, but they'll be back for late fall. I'll plant more. I have added two artichoke plants though, and two tomato plants. The artichokes were transplants from a friends who is moving. I got artichokes, a ton of strawberries, and some succulent plants that I have no names for.

I've been trying to keep the greenhouse as clean as possible to avoid pest problems and up until recently just keeping things clean and organized has been enough. I found scale on my lemon tree last month, not aphids on my peppers this month, not to mention at least one small slug in my pole beans, and one in the lettuce that I can't find, and that will not eat the bait. So far not real damage, just a few small holes here and there.

I got two new blueberry bushes in pots from a sister in law. She could not keep them happy she said. I haven't planted them yet. I'm sure they are still not happy.

Planted a watermelon and a cantaloupe in self watering containers also. They did great in the heat, but our weather cooled off and turned to clouds and rain for a few weeks. this week has been great, so hopefully the melons make a come-back and get some new growth.

Thanks for placing the info on line. I am currently lining out the foundation for my green house (16x24) using double glazed sliding door panels. I've got 34 of them all tolled. I'm planning on using the glass on the south, west and east sides only. Your greenhouse is really cool (Heh, or hot---whatever).
